Fred de Fossard

Fred de Fossard runs a new research unit at the Legatum Institute dedicated to the pursuit of British prosperity. His work focuses on the combined importance of free markets and nationhood, and how a competitive and lightly-regulated economy is essential for British prosperity. Before his time at Legatum, he was a special adviser to Jacob Rees-Mogg from early 2020 to late 2022, advising him in three cabinet positions: Leader of the House, Brexit Opportunities Minister, and Business Secretary. During his time in government, he focused primarily on regulatory reform, Brexit and trade policy, and civil service reform.

Fred de Fossard will speak on the topic: “Why Free Markets and Nationhood go Hand in Hand.”
